Here's an oil painting, a companion piece to the "Tired of Kanji" self-portrait: [link]

This one shows a conversation between my Japanese friend Takahiro Yamada-san and I, while I was on a trip to Japan. We were discussing anime and I just couldn't think of the Japanese name for "Ghost in the Shell," and I remember being so frustrated that I couldn't get across what I wanted to say.

(Takahiro-san, the anime was 攻殻機動隊 if you ever read this!)

This is really beautiful, and what a neat concept! :D I like how you incorporated the Japanese and English text of your conversation into the picture.

Oh the Japanese call Ghost in the Shell "Koukaku kidoutai". (^_^)
Nice concept and I liked a lot the somewhat realistic technique you used on this. Hope you got a great time on Japan :D

Lovely painting. I'm such a sucker for combos of white, black and teal.
